Gifts of Joy

At Detailed Plant Design we are set apart by our artistry, attention to detail and giving.  We love to get behind a good cause to support groups and families locally and internationally.  We seek out opportunities to bring joy to others through flowers.  In high school each Saturday Karese collected beautiful flowers for her grandmother from her garden and brought them in to grace every room of her home.  This ignited her passion to serve others through floral and garden design.

In the twenty years since, we have discovered many opportunities to give back and bring joy though flowers.  A few recent stories follow...

Fundraiser Donation: Floral Design Class for Six People

The Why

Private primary school is expensive.  Though there are benefits that children can receive from smaller class size and hand picked curriculum, some children miss out on these opportunities due to the financial burden.

The Need

Each year the school hosts a fundraising gala to offset the cost for students.  At the fundraiser a dinner is served and many items are auctioned.

The Gift

In 2019 we chose to bring joy to others through donating a floral design class for six people.  The wonderful teacher who won the class owns a beautiful garden.  She wanted to invite her friends to learn to design with a mix of homegrown and commercially available flowers and foliage.  It was a very fun evening of friends, flowers, laughter and learning.

First Impressions: Welcoming Seasonal Planters

The Why

Visiting a new church can be overwhelming and first impressions are important.  When a church located in an industrial park- it is time to get creative.

The Need

Surrounded by autobody shops, with the front entry to the church protected by orange cones, the first impression was a bit cold.  The church leadership decided to create a warmer, more inviting plaza where friends could gather and visit before and after weekend services.  They built six wooden boxes to replace the orange cones that protected the church entry from traffic and asked if we might fill them with flowers.

The Gifts

We were thrilled.  We created planters inside each wooden box.  Two are removable and four are permanent.  We brought in over twenty cubic feet of quality potting soil and were ready for plants.  The first spring we filled the planters with agave, white cosmos, yellow calibrachoa, white bacopa, white petunias and pink petunias.  In late summer when the those flowers become tired we replaced them with a blend for fall.  This seasonal blend includes bronze ipomoea, white euphorbia, yellow lantana, large, white salvia and the remaining agaves.  We look forward to each new season and the opportunity to bring joy with fresh plants.

Couple's Night Out: The Not So Newly Wed Game

The Why

Spending time and having fun with your spouse can deepen your marriage.  But it can be tough think of a fun date idea.  With a passion for marriages we partnered with the Marriage Ministry to create a fun atmosphere for couples to laugh and create memories together.

The Need

When we asked how we could help support the team, they asked for centerpieces and a boutonniere for the host.  Looking at their theme for the evening and their logo we began to brainstorm.

The Gifts

Karese decided all red flowers in a 1970s theme would be a great fit for this event.    We purchased over 500 red blooms and created striking centerpieces and a red rose boutonniere for the host.  At the end of the night one couple from each table took home the centerpieces to enjoy through Valentines Day.
